To mark 20 years of UK Black Pride, Caroline
Chinakwe has teamed up with the movement’s iconic founder, Lady Phyll, to
create a bold new limited-edition art print titled “Becoming.”
This exclusive portrait
captures Lady Phyll’s strength, grace, and resilience. Inspired by her personal
journey and the wider story of UK Black Pride, “Becoming” celebrates two
decades of resistance, fostering solidarity and challenging inequalities for
Black LGBTQI+ people in the UK.
"I wanted to honour Lady Phyll not just as a woman, but as a symbol of what so many dark-skinned Black women represent — resilience, creativity, and unity." — Caroline Chinakwe
"UK Black Pride isn’t just an event — it’s a living, breathing movement rooted in love, allyship, and self-definition. This collaboration with Caroline is a visual embodiment of everything we stand for."
